Hooley Booster Club Scholarship

Two $1000 scholarships to be awarded

Please read all criteria!

Criteria: Open to high school seniors who will be pursuing an associates degree, four year college, or trade school. Open to any dancer at the Hooley School of Irish Dance be it solo competitor, ceili dancer or non competitive student. You must be actively involved with the Hooley School and participate in volunteer activities for the Booster Club i.e. volunteering during the Hooley Feis Weekend (and have your hours documented) and/or helping out with the dinner dance event or other events or fundraisers.

Application:

-GPA of at least 3.2. Provide a transcript.

-Involvement with the Hooley School of Irish Dance. This can include: Participate in taking classes, mentoring classes, competing at feiseanna, performing in the community, teaching classes.
-Volunteer hours with the Hooley Booster Club (i.e. assisting with the Hooley Feis operation, helping out with the holiday party, involvement with a fundraiser) Have your hours documented by a Booster Club officer
-Two recommendations (outside of Hooley and family members)--these could be from school, church, or a community organization you work with.
–Intent to pursue further education.
-Written essay of 500 words on the topic:
Topic: How will participating in Irish Dance help me later in life?
Resume of activities and involvement.

1. A current bulleted list of your involvement and accomplishments in Irish dancing. This should include competitive level, major competitions/awards, etc., as well as non-competitive experiences, performances, class mentoring, etc. (Do not think that only World Qualifiers are eligible. All factors of the application will be taken into consideration)

2. A current bulleted list of your extracurricular activities during high school, including any positions of leadership held.  Be very specific in describing/detailing leadership roles and responsibilities.  This may include sports, clubs, and activities that are sponsored by your academic school, as well as those sponsored by churches or community organizations.

3. A bulleted list/description of any volunteer or service work, as well as any paid work, in which you have been involved during high school.  Be very specific in describing/detailing roles and responsibilities of position.

(Applications will be reviewed by an independent panel.)

Note:

The Hooley Booster Club will provide documentation letters for any applicant who volunteers at the Hooley Feis Weekend, and prep work leading up to the Feis Weekend, and the December dinner dance. Applicants should sign up for jobs for the Hooley Feis weekend and/or be at set up on Friday evening November 8th.
